Job Picture Brightens!

Today's column based on a Wall Street Journal article by Annelena Lobb in the Wednesday edition, August 31, 2005. (Sorry...not available free online.)
Thanks to Jack Carton who brought the article to our attention today.

First thing...check out the cartoon. What does it tell us?
Oh, Goody! Mr. Joe Job Seeker is stepping from one cushy job to the next.. .including an increase in salary!

The cartoon suggests that The Next Job pays even better than the last job!

Is that our experience at
FortyPlusNY? Read on:

1. The "Job Quit" rate is rising.

2. The Job Search time has dropped again; now down to 3.1 months from the earlier 3.8 months! (Challenger)

3. Korn/Ferry says their business is up 40% this year!

4. Salary freezes are down this year to a mere 2%.

5. 92% of employees expect a base-pay INCREASE this year.

Is all this Good News accurate...or is it a matter of the WS Journal's
being "selective" about the news they report?

The basic numbers are from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
They are reporting the facts as they know them. They numbers include "rank and file workers to senior executives." Very Good News, indeed.

Some of the news is from private companies which may or may not be spinning; however, their news sounds about right to us. Good News!

Now let's cut to the actual, real life experience of FortyPlusNY members.
How does our Real World Exerience compare to the WSJournal story?

1. We see how fast (3 weeks) it takes for a highly qualified FortyPlus Member to find and win a new job.

2, We see members with MULTIPLE JOB INTERVIEWS...with several good jobs open and actively seeking top talent. And these jobs are opening up on BOTH COASTS...not only in NYC or only in L.A.

3. We've seen the total transformation of talented people...working through the FortyPlus System...coming out with sparkling new resumes.

"I couldn't believe the difference...my old resume got a polite nod;
my new one grabs people...gets rave reviews...and was extremely
valuable in getting the great job I was looking for."

An actual quote from a newly hired ex-Member.

Our Editorials walk a line between Reality (which, as we know, can be pretty cold and harsh) and a firmly established Optimism, which is based on our many years of experience and hands-on help with our Members...which yields what we have always promised: Gainful New Employment.

As always, we repeat (and repeat) "The More You Put In, The More You Get Out" of Forty Plus NY.
